Question:

I'm designing a mold that my customer is going to have you machine 100%. He's on a tight delivery and would like to know that if we place the leader pins on b-side and the leader pin bushings on a-side, will that effect the turn-around time?

Mike

Answer:

Hi Mike,

That type of modification would not affect our lead-times for a special at all.  Please include your time-frame expectations within your quote request and we will accommodate your needs as best we can within our quotation.

Question:

I’m planning on including a few Core pins in a design I’m working.  If I have PCS machine the Mold Base complete, what would be my options for retaining the pins in the Bottom Clamp plate?

Answer:

PCS will machine to your design.  While some prefer to design and machine for keeper pockets, PCS also supplies Core pin Retainers for the same purpose.

Four sizes are available to accommodate various core pin head diameters.  We can also include these parts within our quotes upon request.

Question
from Jeremy,  PA.

Good Morning,
I have ordered numerous custom-machined mold bases from you in the past, but from different companies.

From what I recall, your pricing was pretty fair...
Anyway, I am on a rush project, and we are thinking about ordering the mold-base complete as we do not have any open machines for awhile...
How much deviation from your standard mold-bases can we go without taking a serious price hit?  I can get the leader pins, main assy screws, return pins, and guided ejection into your standard locations...but just about everything else is non-standard.  This tool will have a front-half stripper plate, and no 'B' plate, etc...even the plate thicknesses are non-standard.
Please let me know ASAP, as we would need a very quick turn-around....

Thanks,

Jeremy

Answer:

Thanks for the question, Jeremy.

While typically it is best to design based from our PCS standard locations, we understand that may not be possible at times.  With that being said, specials are priced competitively based on the amount of machining and material involved.  In this case, it is probably best to send a file in for review to moldquote@pcs-company.com for quotation.
